Zimbabweans react to 5 more years of Mugabe (by Justice Sibanda)

After spending the weekend dazed and confused by the outcome of the Zimbabwe Election. This morning I have been online trying to find pictures of Zimbabweans celebrating what if the results published are to be believed was a resounding victory for ZANU-PF. I am still looking. There are pictures on the Sunday Mail (state owned) showing ZANU-PF star rally at the National Sports Stadium that quite frankly bring more questions than answers. On the state owned Herald newspaper there is no mention of it, but rather an exhausting amount of articles about how "free and fair" the elections were according the beacons of democracy that are Jacob Zuma, China and Kenya.

I came across this quote this morning; "As the reality begins to sink in that ZANU PF now has total control of both houses of Zimbabwe’s legislature and Mugabe remains the President, feelings of anger, shock, despair and confusion are taking over." It seems that instead of hope, there is, for many Zimbabweans, fear of what an all-powerful Mugabe means for the future of the country. We have lived through that nightmare once already....
